Intern at the SMA

"Not only did I learn how a Museum works, I really got to contribute my skills and knowledge to various exhibitions at the Museum!"     - Camille Moffat, Intern.

Gain great job experience in a dynamic and beautiful setting. Internships are offered on a rotating basis.  Applicants may apply for a specialization within the following Museum departments: Curatorial, Education, or Operations.  Communications & Graphic Design students are also welcome to apply within the Operations department.  Internships are open to professionally directed students and graduates, and educational and professional experience requirements vary with the chosen area.

Internship applicants must be able to commit to at least one semester of service, preferably longer, and serve a minimum of 6 hours per week in their area of specialty.  Internships are unpaid, but offer great experience.  Interns gain a wide variety of practical experience in Museum work; such as curating and hanging an exhibition, creating and distributing media kits for special events and exhibitions, researching and writing grants, and much more.  Prior to starting their internships, all accepted interns will be required to attend a general orientation meeting.

Interested applicants should contact Natalie Petersen through the email link below, and email the following:
1. Intern application
2. Resume
3. Letter of intent
4. 1-2 page writing sample
5. Contact information for 3 academic/professional references.
