Online Submission
The 53rd Annual Utah All-State High School Art Show will held in person at the Museum from February 1 - March 21, 2025. Jurying of this year's High School Art Show will be held online. Teachers will be contacted with a submission link and their number of allowed entries in November; the online submission link will go live December 2, 2024, and it will close at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. If there are more entries submitted than are allotted to a high school, the entries will be counted in the order they are submitted, with later submissions not taken into consideration. Teachers will be notified of accepted works on January 10, 2025 by 3:00pm. Accepted artworks must be brought to the Museum between January 15-18, 10am-5pm. Works not received by Saturday the 18th at 5:00pm will be disqualified from exhibition.
(Tips for photographing student artwork can be found here.)
Homeschool students may contact Elena Free at EFree@springville.org to submit up to two entries into the exhibition.
If you are a teacher who needs the link to the submission form please email Elena at EFree@springville.org. Artists must receive the submission link from their teacher -- Museum staff will not provide the link directly to students.
Visiting the Exhibition
All school groups planning to visit this exhibition (both guided and self-guided) must call and schedule in advance. We are able to accommodate a limited number of students in one day, and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Schools that do not schedule their visit in advance may not be able to visit the full exhibition. Please email Lettie Burton at CBurton@springville.org as soon as possible to ensure you are able to visit on your desired date.
A limited amount of funding is available to assist schools in transporting students to and from the exhibition. For more information about accessing funding please contact Lettie Burton at CBurton@springville.org.
Eligibility
- Original Artwork: Developed from personal experience, imagination, and direct observation; from multiple personal photographs or sketches. Please include images of any personal photographs or sketches used during the creation process in your online submission.
- Adapted Concept: Artwork developed from other sources using multiple elements or photographs with personal interpretation to create a new perception. We require the use of two or more images for each adapted work. All source material must be identified on the entry and the entry card, and an image or copy of the actual source must be included with the online submission.
- Copy Work: Artwork that is directly copied from one source without original or creative adaptations is not allowed in this exhibition.
- A.I. generated artwork will not be accepted in this exhibition. Submissions of digital artworks that utilize rendering software (i.e. Blender, Unity, Maya, etc.) must include sketches, screen shots, and/or screen recordings from throughout the creation process. Museum staff will make final decision if artwork complies with eligibility requirements.
Open to Utah public and private high school students in grades 11 and 12. Works must be submitted by the high school art department (not individual students). Each student may be represented with up to two pieces which meet the specifications of original or adapted concepts (see above).

Jury Groups
This exhibition is a juried exhibition. Twelve jurors (an art show word for judges) with experience and understanding of high school art are selected to represent various media categories. Jurors will select works to be accepted in the exhibition, as well as the award winners.

Artwork Delivery & Pickup
Teachers will be notified of accepted artworks on January 10, 2025 (by 3pm). Accepted artwork must be delivered to the Springville Museum of Art, January 15-18, 2025, between 10am-5pm. All work may be picked up from the Museum from Saturday, March 22, 2025 or Tuesday, March 25 - Friday, March 28, 2025, 10am-5pm. No artwork accepted for exhibition will be released from the Museum before March 22, 2025*. Failure to pick up work by Friday, March 28, 2025 may result in the reduction of bonus entries the following year for the school. No staff will be available to assist with art pickups on Saturday, March 29th. If students would like to pick up their own artwork they need to make an appointment with Museum staff by emailing KKimball@springville.org.
*Students who need artwork for a Sterling Scholar interview must contact the Museum at least one week in advance to schedule art pickup. Artwork can only be removed from the Museum for a 24-hour period - please plan accordingly. Email KKimball@springville.org with any questions.
*Students who are accepted into the National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition (NCECA) and need to pick work up prior to March 22nd must make arrangements in advance by emailing KKimball@springville.org.
Award Opportunities
Various awards (some with cash prizes) are presented to selected students in the exhibition.
If you'd like to nominate an educator or student for the Teacher of the Year or Outstanding Student of the Year awards, please fill out this form: Award Nomination Form.
Utah State Senate Visual Arts Award
Beginning in 2022, the Utah State Senate Visual Arts Competition has merged with the Annual Utah All-State High School Art Show at the Springville Museum of Art. The Utah State Senate, currently led by Senate President Stuart Adams, will now sponsor a premiere award in the All-State High School Art Show. For more details read the letter announcing the merge here.
Utah Congressional District Awards
Utah’s Congressional Districts select award winners representing their district from the exhibition each year. The first place award winning works will hang for one year in Washington, D.C. For information on the specifics of the Congressional awards, click here. Please note that to be considered for the 1st place award, artworks must be no larger than 26" by 26" and no deeper than 4''.
Traveling Show
The Utah Division of Arts and Museums will sponsor a traveling exhibition selected from and immediately following the Springville show. It will travel during the 2025-2026 school year to museums, galleries, libraries, and schools throughout Utah. This is a very prestigious show, consisting of less than 10% of works accepted into the High School Show. The traveling show is a great opportunity for student artists who are looking to expand their audience and build their résumé. Two dimensional works should be covered with Plexiglas. The artwork will be selected by the Visual Art Committee of the Division of Arts and Museums. If you would like your work to be considered for this exhibition, please indicate so on your entry paperwork.
Selling your Artwork
This exhibition provides students with an opportunity to sell their artwork. Students interested in listing their art for sale should work with their teachers to determine a price for their artwork. Please take into consideration the cost of materials (including the frame), the time invested into making the artwork, and the Museum's 30% commission. Artwork will be sold as is, including any frames, pedestals, or display supports submitted with the artwork.
